Camp Constitution Radio did an expose of the men, and organizations behind the latest drive for an Article V Constitutional Convention. This recent movement was launched at the Conference on the Constitutional Convention www.conconcon.org by leftist professor Larry Lessig, and Mark Meckler, the man who founded the Convention of the States. Meckler passes himself of as a conservative, and has received the support of may conservatives who should know better. This program reveals Meckler’s connections to Van Jones and Living Room Conversations, Joan Blades of MoveOn.org and the Aspen Institute. It also reveals the disturbing connections to Mike Farris and Grover Norquist. Farris, founder of Home School Legal Defense Association, is perhaps the most active proponent of an Article V Convention. Farris, who is quick to denounce any and all who oppose an Article V as “evil” and “enemies of the Constitution” has credibility in the Christian homeschool community, but few know that sitting on the board of directors of Farris’s Parental Rights group is Grover Norquist. Norquist, a member Council on Foreign Relations, was both a member and an advisor to the now-defunct homosexual organization GoProud, and has ties to the Muslim Brotherhood Glen Beck recently reported. Camp Constitution recently sponsored an afternoon at the Rockland, ME Library to honor Mrs. Bettina Dobbs, co-founder of Guardians of Education for Maine, and author of the book “Gems From the GEM Years,” published by Camp Constitution Press and available on the camp’s on-line bookstore. Guardians of Education in Maine was started in 1978 by Mrs. Dobbs, a registered nurse and a retired school teacher, and Charlotte Iserbyt, a Camden school board member who later went on to work for the U.S. Department of Education. Mrs. Pat Truman, a member of GEM, presented a framed letter from Maine’s Governor Paul LePage to Mrs. Dobbs commending her efforts with GEM, and the impact she has made on the lives of several generations of students and parents. Michelle Truman, a school teacher spoke about the great influence Mrs. Dobbs had on her teaching career, and GEM’s co-founder, Charlotte Iserbyt reminisced about the numerous success stories GEM had on local, state and regional education issues. Here is a link to the program on Youtube:
The latest book published by Camp Constitution Press “Gems from the Gem Years: Are You Missing in Action” by Bettina Dobbs. The following is the foreword written by Sam Blumenfeld:
GEM is indeed a gem. It
was started in 1978 by two patriotic American women—Bettina Dobbs,
a retired teacher and registered nurse, and Charlotte Iserbyt, Camden
School Board Member and later Senior Policy Advisor at the U.S.
Department of Education. They will go down in history as two Americans
who epitomize the stamina, courage, and intelligence of American women
(with the unstinting help of their husbands). This account of their work to
save American schoolchildren from the evils of progressive education will
be a lasting monument to remind future patriots what it takes to preserve
and sustain the America we love.
Those of us who have fought in this ongoing war understand the kind
of dedication and stick-to-it-iveness that was necessary to make GEM
the kind of organization that informed thousands of parents of the truth
about what was going on in the public schools. It was not easy finding out
what the educators would not have wanted us to know. So it took hours
of dogged research to get the facts and then convey them to parents who
needed to know.
GEM also aimed its informational arrows at those in power: state and local
legislators, school superintendents and administrators, and teachers. They
had to know that there was a watchdog aware of their every move and that
the public was not deaf, dumb, and blind to their mischief.
In this way, GEM did all in its power to save Maine’s children from the
worst programs the progressive educators were determined to inflict
on their students. And GEM did this without the help of those great
foundations that finance all sorts of liberal education projects. They did
this knowing that the progressives were also receiving millions of federal
dollars in grants from the U.S. Department of Education.
Indeed, it was Charlotte Iserbyt, as Senior Policy Advisor at the
Department of Education in Washington, who blew the whistle
and exposed what was going on in the department in her massive
documentary book, The Deliberate Dumbing Down of America. That
book will go down in American history as one of the most remarkable
accounts of governmental treachery ever written by anyone. Only
in America could a citizen freely expose the wrong doings of its top
officials and survive.
Which means that we can still win this war. Truth is more powerful than
deception. We now know that it was John Dewey, the socialist educator,
who concocted the plan to dumb down America by changing the primary
school curriculum. His essay, written in 1898, The Primary Education
Fetch, outlined the progressive plan in detail. And he and his colleagues
knew that it would take deception to put it over. Indeed, he wrote:
“Change must come gradually. To force it unduly would compromise its
final success by favoring a violent reaction.”
If what the progressives were advocating was so good, why would it have
provoked a “violent reaction”? The plan worked. It was put over on us
so gradually, that we did not see the complete picture until the 1970s. But
by then, our side did not have the power to stop the decline in literacy, the
increase in school violence, the massacres, the drugging of students to cure
school-induced ADD and ADHD, the increase in student promiscuity and
depression, the campaign against biblical religion and its replacement with
secular humanism, atheism, and nihilism. All of these manifestations of
the progressive education philosophy have made public education a royal,
unhealthy mess.
In April 1983, the National Commission on Excellence in Education
produced its famous report, A Nation at Risk. It said: “If an unfriendly
foreign power had attempted to impose on America the mediocre
educational performance that exists today, we might have viewed it as an
act of war. As it stands, we have allowed this to happen to ourselves.”
In other words, our progressive educators are guilty of treason. And they
are still at it!
While GEM made us aware of what was going on, it could not stop the
evil, but it did provide many parents with the incentive to seek alternatives
in homeschooling and private education. Thus GEM was instrumental in
saving thousands of children from psychological and academic harm at
the hands of the progressives.
Bettina Dobbs tells the story of GEM in a way that will inspire future
patriots to pursue the truth with the same energy and devotion. Their
aim should be to restore the public schools
controlled by local school boards, elected by local tax-payers. The present
drive by progressives is to federalize the schools through the Common
Core Curriculum. Americans must oppose this imposition of federal
control over our local schools. We must also elect members of Congress
who will shut down the U.S. Department of Education. Federal control of
the schools means national brainwashing to suit the government. If “We
the People” are to prevail, we must return the control of education to the
parents.
Meanwhile, Bettina Dobbs and Charlotte Iserbyt have shown the way and
are passing the torch on to the next generation. At stake is the future of
our beloved country and the health and safety of American children. And
only dedicated patriots will be able to preserve the great legacy of freedom
bequeathed us by our Founding Fathers.

A Visit from the Christ Child
Twas the morning of Christmas, when all through the house
All the family was frantic, including my spouse;
For each one of them had one thing only in mind,
To examine the presents St. Nick left behind.
The boxes and wrapping and ribbons and toys
Were strewn on the floor, and the volume of noise
Increased as our children began a big fight
Over who got the video games, who got the bike.
I looked at my watch and I said, slightly nervous,
“Let’s get ready for church, so we won’t miss the service.”
The children protested, “We don’t want to pray:
We’ve just got our presents, and we want to play!”
play!”
It dawned on me then that we had gone astray,
In confusing the purpose of this special day;
Our presents were many and veryhighpriced
But something was missing – that something was Christ!
I said, “Put the gifts down and let’s gather together,
And111 tell you a tale of the greatest gift ever.
“A savior was promised when Adam first sinned,
And the hopes of the world upon Jesus were pinned.
Abraham begat Isaac, who Jacob begat,
And through David the line went to Joseph, whereat
This carpenter married a maiden with child,
Who yet was a virgin, in no way defiled.
“Saying ‘Hail, full of Grace,’ an archangel appeared
To Mary the Blessed, among women revered:
The Lord willed she would bear – through the Spirit – a son.
Said Mary to Gabriel, ‘God’s will be done.’
“Now Caesar commanded a tax would be paid,
And all would gohomewhile the census was made;
Thus Joseph and Mary depart Galilee
For the city of David to pay this new fee.
“Mary’s time had arrived, but the inn had no room,
So she laid in a manger the fruit of the womb;
And both Joseph and Mary admired as He napped
The Light of the World, in His swaddling clothes wrapped.
“Three wise men from the East had come looking for news
Of the birth of the Savior, the King of the Jews;
TIley carried great gifts as they followed a star –
Gold, frankincense, myrrh, which they’d brought from afar.
“As the shepherds watched over their flocks on that night,
The glory of God shone upon them quite bright,
And an angel explained the intent of the birth,
Saying, “Glory to God and His peace to the earth.”
“For this was the Messiah whom prophets foretold,
A good shepherd to bring his sheep back to the fold;
He was God become Man, He would die on the cross,
He would rise from the dead to restore Adam’s loss.
“Santa Claus, Christmas presents, a brightly lit pine,
Candy canes and spiked eggnog are all very fine;
Let’s have fun celebrating, but leave not a doubt
That Christ is what Christmas is really about!”
The children right then put an end to the noise,
They dressed quickly for church, put away all their toys;
For they knew Jesus loved them and said they were glad
That He’d died for their sins, and to save their dear Dad.

Samuel Adams led an effort for weeks to negotiate a resolution to the Bostonian’s desire to not unload, not tax and not put for sale, the East India Company monopolized tea sitting in Boston Harbor since late November, 1773, but to no avail.
December 15, Resolves were passed by the Assoc of the Sons of Liberty in New York against the trading and selling of tea [East India Co. monopoly].

“16, December 1773
Boston, Massachusetts
The day was rainy and chilly as most Massachusetts days in mid-December. The Assembly at the Old South Meeting House was held at 9AM and here the letters from Lexington and Plymouth were read to the people. Again each community affirming commitment to the cause and will give their lives to the endeavor. The meeting was adjourned and scheduled to reconvene at 3PM. The afternoon meeting was to again have an inquest as to why the tea remained in the harbour. This information was to be gone over again for the benefit of the newly arrived hundreds from the out-lying communities, freshly arrived. The meeting last for two hours and instructed that the ship owners are to once again have an interview with (Acting) Governor for his permission to sail without unloading the tea consignments. The meeting adjourned until 6PM at which time an answer should be presented.
At 6PM, the multitude of citizens arranged themselves within the pews and gallery of Old South. Nothing yet from the ship owners or the Governor, but none was expected. One citizen, Josiah Quincy (member of the Committee of Correspondence) spoken of the peoples resolve and popular acclamations of willing to gives our lives. Others gave voice in similar tones to the crowd as all waited for the final answer from Governor Hutchinson.
Finally, the message arrives around 7PM, that there shall be no passes. Samuel Adams stands and says the words “This meeting can do nothing more to save the country,” In the back of the room and outside in the street, the Sons of Liberty street gang called the “Mohawks”, react to that remark by moving swiftly to Griffins wharf and board the three tea ships Dartmouth, Eleanor and Beaver.
The Mohawk’s a group of a few dozen men, clothed to resemble Indians, extracted the tea from the cargo holds and disperse the leaves into the waters of the harbour. When completed, the ships were cleaned of debris and with no causalities.
“Some interesting extra fact
Late Thursday the 16, December 1773, was cold (low 35 degrees and rainy). The estimates of over 200 men are reported as having been involved. A list of 116 men is recorded with the added fact many not listed were there. The sheer weight of the containers indicates the time involved would be more than two hours as reported. Later, a letter from Dr. Warren to a friend also says the same and estimates the time rage to be more of 4 hours or 7 to 11PM but more likely nearer 8 to mid-night.
Each full container had a weight of 400 pounds, which is a total of all three ships at about 90,000 lbs. (45 tons) of tea, was thrown overboard. The destroyed tea was worth an estimated £10,000. The timing was more based on the local authority’s response then given credit. The British Army was inside Castle William and/or on Governors Island. There was no way the local guards were going to get involved with a few thousand irate Bostonians. They learned that lesson in 1771. So, they slowly rowed to the Island and give alarm. Mustering troops (late evening) and embark them and row them (in force) to the wharf then disembark. Muster into ranks and march over to the area. That would take four to five hours. The riot was over and the insurgents gone. No Loyalist could identify anyone as the “Mohawks” who had smudged their faces in charcoal.
“Next: Interesting point to the story is the lack of damage to property. All three ships were owned by Boston merchants and Lodge Brothers of the Saint Andrew Freemasons or the St Johns. In fact, Rotch (the owner of the Dartmouth) was the Grand Master of St. John’s. Each owner easily could be considered part of the over-all scheme of things. They knew from the beginning that once the ships docked, they were bound by law to remain until said cargo was unloaded, i.e. 20 days. Everything was very convenient.”
“Note: The incident was only referred to as the destruction of the tea at Boston. The earliest newspaper reference to the “Boston Tea Party” doesn’t appear until 1826. In the 1830s, two book; “Retrospect of the Boston Tea-Party” by G.R.T. Hewes and “Traits of the Tea Party” also by G.R.T. Hewes coined the express and is improperly used today.

December 15th, marks the two-hundred-twenty-third
anniversary of the ratification of the Bill of Rights, which took place
in 1791. It was certainly quite a spectacle last summer to watch young
Luke Boyce (also known as Kid Constitution) recite all ten amendments
that comprise our Bill of Rights at Camp Constitution’s week-long family camp. Luke is great example to us all to memorize
this document, and to thus be more familiar with the sacred,
God-given rights which it safeguards.
But there was one important part of the Bill of Rights which he left
out. I don’t blame Luke for this; indeed, this part is left out in
many printings of our constitution, and is probably unknown to most
college law professors. I speak of the preamble to the Bill of Rights,
which is important because its opening lines describe both the purpose
and the primacy of the ten amendments that follow.
At Camp, we all know that our Constitution has a preamble: indeed, we sing it at
campfire. But how many of us know that the Bill of Rights has a
preamble all its own? The most important, opening lines are as follows:
The Conventions of a number of the States, having at the time of their adopting the Constitution, expressed a desire, in order to prevent misconstruction or abuse of its powers, that further declaratory and restrictive clauses should be added.
Anti-federalists like Patrick Henry and George Mason were alarmed by the new powers granted in the Constitution, and wanted to make sure that they could never be twisted and turned against WE, THE PEOPLE. They understood all the abuses that had happened to us under British rule, as well as in other countries and previous republics such as Greece and Rome. Thus, with our own Constitution, they wished to prevent any possible “misconstruction or abuse of its powers.”
Thus the preamble states these first ten amendments to be: “declaratory and restrictive clauses.” This means they supersede and restrict all previous parts of the Constitution, as well as all subsequent amendments to the restraining framework of the Bill of Rights amendments. THE BILL OF RIGHTS AMENDMENTS ARE A FIREWALL. THEY COMPRISE THE MOST POWERFUL PART OF OUR CONSTITUTION BECAUSE THEY PLACE VERY SPECIFIC RESTRICTIONS ON THE POWERS OF THE GOVERNMENT TO INFRINGE UPON THE RIGHTS OF WE,THE PEOPLE.
In the past hundred years, especially, our government has grown way beyond
the very modest size and scope intended by the founders. Thus it is up to us to teach the
meaning of the founding documents to others, and to elect true statesmen who will fight to
restore them. It is up to us to write (and at times, visit) our elected officials to
remind them of their sacred oath to protect and defend the Constitution.
If we do not fight for our Constitution and Bill of Rights right now, in these crucial, dangerous times, then they will simply not be there for us, when we need them. Without our help and our fight they are but crumbling, aged, yellowed parchment.
In Liberty,
“Tricorner” Tom Moor
THANKSGIVING DAY 1789
BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA – A PROCLAMATION
Whereas it is the duty of all Nations to acknowledge the providence of almighty God, to obey his will, to be grateful for his benefits, and humbly to implore his protection and favor – and Whereas both Houses of Congress have by their joint Committee requested me “to recommend to the People of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer to be observed by acknowledging with …grateful hearts the many signal favors of Almighty God, especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness.”
Now therefore I do recommend and assign Thursday the 26th day of November next to be devoted by the People of these States to the service of that great and glorious Being, who is the beneficent Author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be – That we may then all unite in rendering unto him our sincere and humble thanks – for his kind care and protection of the People of this country previous to their becoming a Nation – for the signal and manifold mercies, and the favorable interpositions of his providence, which we experienced in the course and conclusion of the late war –for the great degree of tranquillity, union, and plenty, which we have since enjoyed – for the peaceable and rational manner in which we have been enabled to establish constitutions of government for our safety and happiness, and particularly the national One now lately instituted, for the civil and religious liberty with which we are blessed, and the means we have of acquiring and diffusing useful knowledge; and in general for all the great and various favors which he hath been pleased to confer upon us.
And also that we may then unite in most humbly offering our prayers and supplications to the great Lord and Ruler of Nations and beseech him to pardon our national and other transgressions – to enable us all, whether in public or private stations, to perform our several and relative duties properly and punctually – to render our national government a blessing to all the People, by constantly being a government of wise, just, and constitutional laws, discreetly and faithfully executed and obeyed – to protect and guide all Sovereigns and Nations (especially such as have shewn kindness unto us) and to bless them with good government, peace, and concord – To promote the knowledge and practice of true religion and virtue, and the increase of science among them and Us – and generally to grant unto all mankind such a degree of temporal prosperity as he alone knows to be best.
