Stop the Con-Con-Save the Constitution

As expected, supporters of a federal Constitutional Convention aren’t wasting time.  New Hampshire State Representative Ken Weyler introduced 2011-H-0170-R, a resolution calling for a federal Constitutional Convention.  New Hampshire formally withdrew all of its past calls for a Con-Con in May.  Mr. Weyler has been convinced that wording in the resolution limits the delegates to a single item: proposing a balanced budget amendment.  But as we discussed at last summer’s class on the subject, it cannot be limited.  A number of New hampshire legislators have requested that Weyler withdraw his resolution.  This is one of many that we expect to see around the country thanks to groups like ALEC-American Legislative Exchange Counsel, and 10Amendments.org  Whatever merits these organizations have, they are wrong on this issue. Mayflower Compact

The Pilgrims who came to America, contrary to popular believe, didn’t come her for religious freedom;  they already had religious freedom in Holland.  They spelled out one of the reasons for coming to America in the Mayflower Compact:  “Having undertaken for the glory of God, and the advancement of the Christian faith…November 22 1620 (new calendar).

U.N Day of Shame

Inside the U.N. by Steve Bonta

Today marks the official founding of the United Nations = 65 years ago.  Sold to the United States as the last and best hope for peace, the United Nations was founded for the purpose of the creation of a world government.  Few Americans know that the man who wrote the U.N. Charter was a Stalinist agent-Alger Hiss.  Since 1945, the United States has given up much of its sovereignty to the U.N under the U.N. Participation Act.   This explains why the U.S. never wins wars and why Congress hasn’t declared war since 1941.

Camp Constitution believes that the U.S. should get out of the U.N.  We have a number of excellent books available at our camp bookstore on the subject of the U.N. and have a few videos on our Youtube Channel done by Rev. Craft entitled “Get us Out of the U.N.”

Camp Constitution lost a good friend

Camp Constitution lost a good friend with the passing of Dr. Mildred Jefferson.  We were honored to have her speak at this year’s camp. ( Her talk is available at Camp Constitution’s Youtube Channel.)

Dr. Mildred Fay Jefferson was born in Pittsburgh, Texas, and was the first black woman to graduate from Harvard Medical School.  She engaged in private practice at the Boston University Medical Center.  She ran for the U.S. Senate against Ted Kennedy.  (An interview from  the March 17th, 1982  “The Review of the News” is available on Camp Constitution’s downloads.) Stop the Constitutional Convention

Camp Constitution just added two important tools in the educational campaign against the calling of a federal Constitutional Convention:  “Dangers of a Con-Con”  and “Keeping Faith with America.”  “Dangers of a Con-Con” by Larry Greenley is from a July 2009  “New American Magazine,.”   “Keeping faith With America” is an out-of-print transcript from a video by John McManus made  the mid 1980’s.  This transcript has some excellent background information on the organizations and people calling for  Con-Con.   Camp Constitution also posted a 15-minute video by Hal Shurtleff on the Con-Con.  Please make use of these important tools.  For further information and updates visit Stop the Constitutional Convention on Facebook and stoptheconcon.org
