Camp Constitution’s friend Larry Cleveland, Wreaths of America Location Coordinator for Rindge, NH invited us to attend a Wreaths Across America Stop Ceremony, and despite the inclement weather, we were very glad we did. The event took place at the Mount Wachusett Community College in Gardner, MA-just a few towns from New Hampshire this past Monday-December 9. Speakers included Mt. Wachusett President James Vander-Hooven, Retired National Guard Captain Bruce Chester, U.S. Air Force Veteran and Mt. Wachusett student Thalyta Nascimento, and David Colburn, a Wreaths Across America organizer.
The Wreaths Across America caravan consisting of trailer trucks, SUVS, motorcycles, trikes, and a bus began their journey from Columbia Falls, Maine-headquarters for Wreaths Across America -making numerous stops before its ultimate destination Arlington National Cemetary. There were about 200 on hand including Marine ROTC candidates, local members of the VFW’s Honor Guard, and Gold Star Families to greet the members of the Caravan which numbered over 100. It was a moving experience to see Veterans, and families of Veterans who were either killed in action or passed away being recognized for their service and presented wreaths.
