Uncle Sam Museum in Sonoma, CA

Camp Constitution recently visited the Uncle Sam Museum in Sonoma, CA.  This museum is the home of the largest collection of Uncle Sam vintage posters lithographs , and Uncle Sam memorabelia in the world.  The museums’ owners are Cecile and Jean-Pierre Mouraux.  This lovely couple are originally from France.  They came here over 30 years ago and settled in the San Francisco area.  They began collecting vintage posters which led them to learn about the real Uncle Sam-Sam Wilson.  (Camp Constitution has a collection on Uncle Sam Wilson on its scribd.com page:   scribd.com/campconstitution).  Jean-Pierre took a trip to the Boston area to do research.  The trip led him to Arlington-Wilson’s birthplace, the discovery of Wilson’s boyhood home in mason, NH, and Troy, NY where Sam made his fame and fortune.  Jean-Pierre and Cecile author “Who is Uncle Sam” -a pictorial book available on Amazon.  When they got word that the Uncle Sam boyhood home was up for sale, they quickly purchased it and turned it into a house museum.

Camp Constitution will take a field trip to the Uncle Sam Boyhood home and have the opportunity to meet Jean-Pierre.

The Museum in Sonoma is open by appointment only by calling (707) 939-1919.  A visit to this museum will be an unforgettable experience.
