Camp Constitution lost a good friend

Camp Constitution lost a good friend with the passing of Dr. Mildred Jefferson.  We were honored to have her speak at this year’s camp. ( Her talk is available at Camp Constitution’s Youtube Channel.)

Dr. Mildred Fay Jefferson was born in Pittsburgh, Texas, and was the first black woman to graduate from Harvard Medical School.  She engaged in private practice at the Boston University Medical Center.  She ran for the U.S. Senate against Ted Kennedy.  (An interview from  the March 17th, 1982  “The Review of the News” is available on Camp Constitution’s downloads.)

Dr. Jefferson was a pioneer in the Right to Life Movement.  She was a member and director of Right to Life organizations including Massachusetts Citizens For Life.    Active in the Republican Party, her speech at the April 2010 Massachusetts Republican Convention got a standing ovation.

Dr. Jefferson had a great love for her country,  a tireless Patriot and defender of the unborn, a wonderful and loving friend to all who had the privilege of  knowing  her.
